I've been gone from the blogging world for two weeks because not much has been going on in my life. Yet, at the same time, it seems a lot of things has been going on that I don't want to blog about. So I'll do a quick recap of everything significant that happened in my life for the past two weeks:
1) A finally comes home after working 3 weeks in Malaysia and Bangkok. I missed the fool a lot. I spent my weekends with friends and catching up with them. I was deeply touched that despite lacking sleep the night before and coming from work (he had to go straight to work upon landing... on a Saturday!), he still went to my house just to see me. We caught up with stories we couldn't just text to each other while he was gone and viewed his pictures and videos after having dinner over take out Sicilian Salad, Chicken Alfredo Pasta and Pizza. A had to leave 4 days later for Bangkok for more post production work. He's coming home today.
2) My dad got hospitalized this week. Last Sunday, he thought it was just kidney stones so he self-medicated by drinking lots of buko juice. On Monday morning, he couldn't take the pain so he and mom went to the emergency room where the residents just poked at his tummy and based on what was painful or not, concluded that it was appendicitis. Mom wasn't convinced and requested for more diagnostic tests but the doctors, including a family friend, recommended surgery immediately before the appendix ruptured. The 40 minute surgery turned into two hours and a half and it was found out that the appendicitis was just a secondary ailment, a reaction to the real problem: a lump in dad's large intestines. Doctors couldn't tell whether the lump was a tumor or just an infection so they closed him up and recommended a CT scan after he was healed from the operation.5 days later, he had the CT scan and thank God it was, indeed, just an infection. But still, we got scared and many of my parent's friends and family stormed the heavens with prayers. I promised God that if dad turned out okay, I will take care of him and make sure he is healthy. I will start by not buying cigarettes when he asks me to and I will make A promise me not to give my dad cigarettes when he bums one.
3) Of course, on the day my dad got admitted in the hospital, they weren't prepared for an admission. My mom didn't even ask anyone to bring clothes for her and dad to the hospital, I don't know why. So at 11pm, I asked her if she needed anything since I could bring stuff to her. So I packed up their stuff and left with a huge luggage, a pillow and a plastic of linens and towels. I looked like I was running away, complete with the dramatic effect of the strong rain. Anyway, as I reached the first hump, I realized something... I forgot my dad's underwear!!! So I had to turn around and call one of the helpers to run back upstairs and grab dad's underwear! I thought that was funny that I forgot that.
4) Oh, oh, oh! How can I almost forget?! I won Our Awesome Planet's online contest where we had to link the most romantic or tragic love story ever blogged about and of course, I sent the link to the
most romantic night of my life. For that, I won tickets to the Philippine production of The West Side Story starring Christian Bautista and Karylle Tatlonghari. I saw the September 6 production with my friend, Cel, who just celebrated her birthday and who, I was surprised to find out, had a crush on Christian Bautista! Lucky her! A was coming home that day from his 3 week trip abroad but because he had to go to work straight from the airport, he couldn't come with me. Ironic, isn't it? That I couldn't watch the play where I won tickets for a contest called the most romantic story ever blogged about with the person he did the most romantic thing for me.
5) Had fun at one of our outlet's anniversary parties. It's been awhile. The damage: 1 and a half bottles of tequila, 1 bottle of my new favorite party drink, Hpnotiq, 1 bottle of Johnnie Walker Black, about 2 buckets of San Mig Light and 1 bottle of San Miguel Premium All Malt beer. It was the night I debuted my grey fedora hat.
6)Spent this weekend in bed: downloading stuff, surfing, reading books, watching episodes of 90210, Greek, Gossip Girl, and Privileged while munching on chips and chocolates. Hence, the breakout on my face. Yechh! I had like 3 gimmicks to go to this weekend but I opted to just stay at home and enjoyed it.
7) Went to Mall of Asia with my sister, Camille, after going to the 4pm mass, where we had a quick dinner at Teriyaki Boy then we walked fast to the Manila International Bookfair where I splurged on P1,200 worth of books (Hey! They were 20% off! and 2 of the books were ChicLits in hard bound but at P99 each!). I was a bit disappointed though that there were hardly any ChicLits and most of the books were text books. I gotta stop splurging on books soon. I've got about 20 books to read again. Yikes! After the book fair, we went to White Hat where I bought yogurt with cheesecake and strawberry syrup and Camille went to FUNctional where she bought a new diary.
